Il Giardino di Domenico MONTEVECCHIO

In recent years I have had the pos sibility and the pleasure of meeting some people who for various reasons and at different levels have become part of what I like to call "my world parallel, a process that runs in binary mode with the everyday, which is not always what one would like, and serve to support it, download stress and fatigue. Domenico Montevecchi is, or rather, I hope it will be, one of them. We met briefly at the last edition of "Masino autumn." I had read an article recently that "Gardenia" had devoted to his garden, in Saluzzo.
I had hit and I had promised to visit a place called unique, I found ALPINET to live plants, tropical, southern, marsh, divided into three zones fi toclimatiche: that of the Mediterranean flora The cold temperate zone and the continental.

Just this week I agreed to a visit, and, as I have said on other occasions, the great expectations may lead to great disappointments ma anche in questo caso così non è stato.
E’ lui la guida, o sarebbe meglio l’appassionato cicerone che conduce i suoi ospiti attraverso un percorso che stupisce passo dopo passo, lui conosce ognuna of his creatures by name, the botanist, of course, thousands and thousands of animals looking for, planted and cared with passion.

curious and indefatigable traveler, he lived many years in the United Kingdom, studying, observing, learning: and hybrid slot into place, all in breeding techniques. It has no qualifications to be shown because he never finished high school started, because it had too many things to be followed in the field, and the school often was "wasting time". No one will ever volergliene for this, his knowledge is immense, but what is more striking, and the effect on visitors also did less involved in the argument, is his involvement, the passion that justifies the enormous amount of work that has lasted 30 years and that continues. Surprisingly close to the coexistence of chestnuts and bamboo, including a rare black bamboo, hydrangeas and choysie, sedum and cornus, just to name a few, but most of all are the various perspectives that proudly shows its guests, the multi-colored, the choice of
elle leaves based on color, size and flowering. Your garden does not "turn off" never, winter foliage reduces some glare but it turns on, the great "ALPINET" at home does not leave an inch of space below the stones entirely Crassulaceae covered. One feature is the presence of water flowing across the ground, kicks forming streams, ponds and a large "Pantanal" where floating huge specimen of Victoria Amazonica. The large rooms are the main feature, the English style, allow you to close the eye on the prospect of mixed borders, and even large patches of old roses resting on wooden pergola that trace paths, a huge flaming bed of grass, collections of hellebory , camellias, and Paeonia Gunnar handle from huge succulent leaves, and a whole endless series of shrubs, bulbs, fruit trees, a rare Casmirianum Cupressus, Eucalyptus and Cinnamomum Camphor (camphor tree).
Next to the garden is the vegetable garden and a small nursery where he collects plants "too much" and that may be of interest to its visitors, because I think it's difficult to leave such a place without the temptation to try !
